Investment Banking Summer Analyst Program: Asia

The Investment Banking Division (IBD) summer analyst program is a ten-week program, beginning in June. As a summer analyst, you are provided with a hands-on opportunity to work as a full member of a client team on a variety of projects and transactions. You will gain experience on assignments typically performed by full-time analysts in Investment Banking.

You will begin your summer with an initial one-week training program designed to introduce you to the Firm’s unique culture, and reinforce the skills necessary for a successful career in banking. You will also have the opportunity to attend presentations and networking events throughout the summer that will enable you to learn more about the different groups and meet colleagues across different areas of the Firm.

The division looks upon the summer analyst program as a primary source for hiring full-time analysts. Accordingly, if you are interested in the full-time analyst program, you are strongly encouraged to apply to the summer analyst program.

Group Placement Process

“You will have an opportunity to work as a member of a team on a variety of projects and transactions.”

As a summer analyst, you will have the opportunity to work on a number of projects with various industry groups, including: Financial Institutions, Communications, Media and Technology, Power, Natural Resources, Consumer and Retail, and Financial Sponsors. In addition, we offer positions in our Global Finance group in Hong Kong and Tokyo, where summer analysts can specialize in our Debt or Equity Capital Markets groups or our Derivatives Solutions group. We also have limited positions available in country coverage groups, including our Tokyo, China (Beijing/Hong Kong), Korea, Taiwan, and Southeast Asia (based in Singapore) teams.

Feedback And Review Process

As a summer analyst, you will receive a formal performance review at both the midway point and at the end of the summer program. The purpose of the mid-term review is for you to receive developmental feedback on your performance and to gain a clear understanding of what you need to do to receive a full-time offer. At the end of the summer, you will receive a final review and will learn whether you are receiving an offer to join the Firm as a full-time analyst.

The best feedback, however, is provided on the job. We encourage you to check in with your managers and colleagues to obtain regular feedback on your performance.

Mentorship Programs

As a summer analyst, you are assigned a buddy and a mentor to help guide you through your experience at Lehman Brothers, and integrate you into the Firm as quickly as possible. Your buddy is someone who can provide you with answers to basic questions and guide you through your day-to-day experience during the summer. Your mentor is a more senior banker who can help you identify developmental areas and take appropriate action to address those areas.
