Investment Banking Summer Analyst Program: U.S.
The Investment Banking Division (IBD) summer analyst program is managed as two separate sequential summer programs (term one and term two). Each program is eight weeks, with the exact term coinciding with the summer vacation schedules of our participating schools. As a summer analyst, you are provided with a hands-on opportunity to work as a full member of a client team on a variety of projects and transactions.
As a summer analyst, you will go through an initial one-week training program that is designed to introduce you to the Firm’s unique culture, and reinforce the skills necessary for a successful career in banking. You will also have the opportunity to attend presentations and networking events throughout the summer that will enable you to learn more about the different groups and meet colleagues across different areas of the Firm.
The Division views the summer analyst program as a primary source for hiring full-time analysts. Accordingly, if you are interested in the full-time analyst program, you are strongly encouraged to apply to the summer analyst program.

Feedback And Review Process
As a summer analyst, you will receive a formal performance review at both the midway point and at the end of the summer program. The purpose of the mid-term review is for you to receive developmental feedback on your performance and to gain a clear understanding of what you need to do to receive a full-time offer. At the end of the summer, you will receive a final review and will learn whether you will receive an offer to join the Firm as a full-time analyst.
The best feedback, however, is provided on the job. We encourage you to check in with your managers and colleagues to obtain regular feedback on your performance.
Mentorship Programs
As a summer analyst, you are assigned both a junior and a senior mentor to help guide you through your experience at Lehman Brothers, and to integrate you into the Firm as quickly as possible. Your junior mentor is typically an analyst working in the same group as you. Junior mentors can provide you with answers to basic questions and guide you through your day-to-day experience during the summer. Your senior mentor is typically a banker from a different group who can help you identify developmental areas and take appropriate action to address those areas.
