Investment Management Analyst Program: Europe

The Investment Management Division (IMD) analyst program is a two- to three-year program which places you in diverse jobs across three groups in the division: Investments and Research, Client Advisory and Solutions, and Strategy and Business Management.

Rotation And Group Placement Process

After an eight-week initial training period in New York, you will return to London to begin rotations in the various Investment Management businesses. Your permanent group placement is determined in the spring. In some cases, you may be hired directly into a specific business group.

Feedback And Review Process

The purpose of the review process is to provide you with relevant feedback on your performance, as well as to advise you on what you need to do to get to the next level.

The IMD analyst review process consists of one objective-setting exercise and two performance reviews each year (May and November). Reviews are communicated jointly by your direct manager and your program manager.

Each January, you will work with your manager to agree upon objectives for the upcoming year. The purpose of the objective-setting exercise is to identify performance goals and to create a detailed development plan for the year.

The best feedback, however, is provided on the job. We encourage you to work with your managers and colleagues to obtain regular feedback on your performance.

Mobility Opportunities

Lehman Brothers supports mobility across divisions and regions. There are many opportunities within the Investment Management Division and throughout Lehman Brothers for individuals who are looking to be challenged in a different area of the Firm.

Mentorship Programs

“The goal of the mentorship program is to provide you with a mentor who can offer advice and a broader perspective on your career.”

Our focus on mentoring—at all levels of your career—is one of the cultural traits that distinguishes Lehman Brothers. As an analyst, you have the opportunity to be paired with a mentor to help you navigate the Firm. The goal of the mentorship program is to provide you with a mentor who can offer advice and a broader perspective on your career from outside of the formal management structure, as well as to help you achieve your personal career goals.

Training

The Investment Management analyst initial training program is an eight-week program held in New York. Beginning with the “One Firm” training, IMD analysts join their associate colleagues for a week and one-half of Division-specific training, designed to provide you with a thorough understanding of the Division and how its diverse business units work together.

In addition, IMD analysts receive intensive investment analysis initial training. Topics include:

The Europe IMD analysts receive training for the Financial Services Authority (FSA) regulatory exams in London, which usually takes place over two weeks and finishes with the analysts taking exams.

Your full participation in the training program is important in establishing both your technical and teamwork skills in the investment management environment. All analysts are expected to successfully complete the training.
