Operations Analyst Program: U.S.

The Operations analyst program is a two-year program in which you are trained, placed in a business and developed professionally on an ongoing basis. The program begins with an orientation to Lehman Brothers, followed by a comprehensive overview of our Capital Markets business and professional development training curriculum. The program is designed to provide you with the professional skills, industry knowledge and development opportunities that will enable you to achieve success within the Operations Division.

Group Placement Process

During orientation, you will learn about the various placements that are available within the Operations Division. Placement decisions are made based on business needs and your preferences. After one year of successful performance in your initial placement, you are eligible to explore other opportunities within the Operations Division to include, but not be limited to:

Feedback And Review Process

“The program is designed to provide you with professional skills, industry knowledge and development opportunities.”

As an Operations analyst, you will be evaluated as part of the Firmwide review process. You can expect two formal reviews per year: one mid-year (end of May) and the other at year-end (end of November). Our review process is a two-way dialogue in which you submit a self-assessment and goals for the next six months, as well as receive feedback from your reporting manager and team members. The process enables you to understand what goals you have achieved and your areas for development.

Advancement Process And Timeline

You can expect to advance to senior analyst upon successful completion of the program, roughly in two years. High performers can expect to achieve promotion to the assistant vice president level within three to five years.

Mobility Opportunities

Lehman Brothers supports mobility across divisions and regions. Based on your performance, you may be able to move within the division after one year in the program, and you are able to move to any other division after completion of the program. To keep you informed of available opportunities, Firmwide job posting notifications are e-mailed to all Operations analysts on a biweekly basis. Historically, approximately half of any given Operations analyst class will take advantage of career mobility at the end of the first year.

Mentorship Programs

Our focus on mentoring — at all levels of your career — is one of the cultural traits that distinguishes Lehman Brothers. As an Operations analyst, you are assigned a mentor outside of your immediate business area within your first two weeks at the Firm. Your mentor will provide you with guidance and support as you transition into your new role and become accustomed to working at Lehman Brothers.

Training

Following an initial orientation to the Firm, Operations training includes a comprehensive overview of our Capital Markets business and professional development training curriculum.

Training courses are held periodically throughout the two-year program. They cover topics including:

In addition to these classes, we encourage you to take courses offered to the entire Capital Markets Division. These courses are added periodically to the general training curriculum for Operations employees.
