Credit Risk Management Analyst Program: U.S.
The Credit Risk Management analyst program is a two-year generalist program in which analysts rotate through various industry teams in Credit Risk Management. The program is designed to provide you with a broad and comprehensive grounding in credit risk analysis and exposes you to our full range of capital markets products.
Rotation And Group Placement Process
After initial training, you will begin a rotation process that includes four six-month rotations through various industry teams in Credit Risk Management, such as: Financial Institutions, Corporates, Insurance, Municipalities and Hedge Funds. You are then assigned to a team-based on your skill set and your preferences, balanced against the needs of the groups.
As an analyst you have the opportunity to work as part of a team within individual rotations, learning almost exclusively on the job as you are exposed to experienced professionals and contribute to a variety of assignments. Your responsibilities will vary according to your skills, performance, achievements and individual business needs.
Feedback And Review Process
You will receive both formal and informal performance reviews during each rotation. The purpose of the review is to provide you with feedback on your performance as well as to gain a clear understanding of what you need to do to build a successful career at Lehman Brothers. Analyst performance reviews are meant to be a two-way dialogue between you and your manager. Reviews provide you with an opportunity to ask questions (e.g. on your current role, your career development and on project-specific feedback).
Advancement Process And Timeline

Mobility Opportunities
Lehman Brothers supports mobility across divisions and regions. There are many opportunities within the Global Risk Management Division and throughout Lehman Brothers for individuals who are looking to be challenged in a different area of the Firm at the end of the program.
Mentorship Programs
Our focus on mentoring — at all levels of your career — is one of the cultural traits that distinguishes Lehman Brothers. As an analyst, you are paired with both a mentor and a “buddy” to help you navigate the Firm. Your mentor serves as your coach, and can provide you with overall guidance outside of the formal management structure. Your buddy serves as a point of contact in your first few weeks at the Firm, and helps you to integrate into the Credit Risk Management Division and into your respective teams.
Training
The program begins with several weeks of intensive classroom training as part of the Firm’s Capital Markets training program. The initial training consists of an orientation to the Firm and a comprehensive curriculum on capital markets topics, including: stock and bond analysis, an overview of major capital markets instruments and businesses, and an introduction to asset management. You will gain exposure to many aspects of the Firm through a series of business presentations, lectures and interactive projects, and will have the opportunity to network with analyst peers in Capital Markets and Investment Management in the initial phase of your training.
The curriculum is then followed by credit-specific training — both formal and informal — conducted under the guidance of senior Credit Risk professionals. The training covers analytical tools and frameworks for analyzing counterparty credit risk through a variety of case studies and exercises, drawn from a range of industries. The training also consists of a series of product-specific presentations and lectures on analyzing key credit risks associated with derivative products.
