Our Finance Group

Financial Control is responsible for the following global functions:

Accounting Policy
  • Implementing new accounting standards; providing regular updates and training on U.S., international and local Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Providing technical accounting advice to Lehman Brothers businesses, Finance and other groups in the Firm.
Compensation Control
  • Providing reporting, analysis, forecasting and budgeting of compensation and benefits expense for the Firm, including divisional and regional allocations.
External Reporting
  • Preparing the Firm's quarterly and annual reports for the holding company and other regulated subsidiaries.
  • Coordinating compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
Consolidated Balance Sheet and Legal Entity Control
  • Preparing daily management balance sheets.
  • Preparing monthly U.S. GAAP consolidated and individual legal entity financial statements.
Investment Management Division Control
IMD Controllers are responsible for financial reporting for the Investment Management Division, including the three business units within IMD: Private Investment Management, Asset Management and Private Equity. IMD Controllers are responsible for:
  • Overseeing all private equity fund accounting.
  • Preparing client billing and reporting for all IMD products.
  • Overseeing and reviewing production compensation for the sales forces and the product area.
Management Reporting, Budgeting and
         Business Performance Management
Management Reporting, Budgeting and Business Performance Management reports to the Firm's Executive Committee, other senior managers in the Firm, and the Board of Directors. The team is responsible for:
  • Compiling business unit and regional economics on a fully allocated basis.
  • Coordinating the global budget process for the Firm, including the establishment of guiding principles; the coordination of business unit, corporate and regional presentations; and the development of executive summaries for senior management.
Regulatory Reporting
The Regulatory Reporting team is responsible for:
  • Preparing all financial reports required by the Securities and Exchange Commission's Consolidated Supervised Entity Rule.
  • Preparing the Firm's financial regulatory reporting for regulated broker-dealer entities, including those required by the Securities and Exchange Commission, the New York Stock Exchange, the Financial Securities Authority (U.K.), the Financial Supervisory Authority (Japan), the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, the Chicago Board of Trade and the New York Federal Reserve Bank.
Tax
The Tax team is responsible for:
  • The Firm's global income tax reporting as well as preparation of tax returns in multiple taxing jurisdictions globally.
  • Performing technical analysis and research for transactions and activities in which the Firm is engaged.
